Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner impeached by Pa. House

Philadelphia's elected Democratic prosecutor faces a state Senate trial and possible expulsion after the Republican-led state House impeached him for progressive crime policies.

First Pennsylvania Senate impeachment hearing in almost 30 years. The GOP's 29-21 state Senate advantage will collapse to 28-22 early next year. Two-thirds of senators must approve Krasner's removal.

Republicans argued he should be dismissed for not prosecuting minor charges, his bail request techniques, and his staff management. They said Krasner hindered the House's probe.

Krasner said it was the first time the state House impeached a lawmaker for their views.

It's" been hundreds of years since the House impeached an elected official for their ideas.

These principles include helping victims and survivors more, investigating crime using contemporary science, and preventing violence.
